What is NEC 511?

National Electrical Code Article 511 outlines the standards for safe electrical installations in commercial garages designed to either repair or store driving vehicles such as cars, buses, trucks, & tractors. NEC 511 states the classification of different locations for various vehicles, the wiring of permanent and portable equipment, the operation of electrical equipment around hazardous materials that can be found in autobody garages, and more.
